Honoured Guest Speaker in this webinar hosted by Dardania College will be Dr. Takahiro SHINYO, a Professor at Kwansei Gakuin University, and Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations.
Professor Takahiro SHINYO graduated from Osaka University with a law degree in 1972 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan. In 1973 he enrolled at the Georg-August University of Göttingen and studied international law for two years. In 1975 he was appointed the second secretary of the Japanese embassy in Switzerland and in 1984 the first secretary in China. In 1987 he became the counselor of the Japanese embassy in Germany. In 1989, he returned to Japan to assume the head of the Disarmament Division in the United Nations Bureau in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then became the Director of the UN Policy Division in 1991.
Professor Takahiro SHINYO was seconded to Osaka University in 1993 where he earned a doctorate before he returned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996 and was appointed Minister in the Japanese embassy in Germany. In 1999, he became Deputy Director-General of the European and Oceanic Affairs Bureau at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2002 he became the Consul General of Japan in Düsseldorf. In 2006 he became Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Japan to the United Nations. From 2008 to 2011 he was the Ambassador of Japan to the Federal Republic of Germany.
Professor SHINYO in this webinar will examine peace, conflict management, as well as the stages of the conflict and the feasibility of ending the crisis in Kosovo during 1999. The speaker panel will include academic staff of Dardania College such as Dr. Enver Hasani, a Professor of International Law and International Relations, Former President of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo, Arbenita Sopaj, a PhD Candidate in International Relations and Conflicts, and PhD Njomza Mehani.
